Splash Pad Construction

Planning, Design, and Layout

We utilize our experience building complex pools, spas, and landscapes to create incredible splash pads. The first step to a splash pad install is to design the water feature to fit the area and include all the features you desire. This is the time we do all the construction planning and acquire any city permits necessary. We then layout the splash pad in the backyard based on your design plan.

Residential splash pads use recirculated water stored which is stored in an underground reservoir that has been filtered and sanitized. All the sch 40 piping is sized based on your unique splash pad installation. Since every splash pad is a custom installation, we tailor the plumbing and equipment to match your exact project. The heart of the splash pad is the equipment. We use the highest grade equipment designed for swimming pools and spas which perform at optimum levels. Water chemistry is an important part of the system as well. Chlorinators are usually installed as a primary sanitizer. Secondary water sanitizers can be added. We recommend having a UV water sanitizer as well as an ozone cleaning system.

We install variable speed and variable flow pool pumps to have ultimate control in our custom splash pads. A cartridge filter serves as the primary cleaning unit to remove particulates from the water. We combine multiple valves to control the water flow to each feature or nozzle. An automatic water leveler (auto-fill) keeps the water reservoir tank full.

There isn't a high demand for power to run a splash pad so they are very efficient and not expensive to operate. We utilize variable speed pumps to give the owner maximum control. There is no high voltage power at the feature itself so they are safe to operate.

Every splash pad we build uses high strength psi concrete to resist cracking. Everything must be sloped correctly to ensure proper flow and operation without puddling or standing water to minimize run off.

PIP rubber is an option that is troweled onto the concrete sub-base.
Acrylic lace is the most popular option for splash pads in Nevada. We use a spray on process similar to pool decking. We use a specially formulated product that resists water and moisture.

Nozzle and Water Feature Installation

The last phase brings the splash pad to life. After flushing the entire plumbing system, we install the various nozzles chosen by the client. We also install the above ground water features. After everything has been installed, we thoroughly test the system and operate all the water features to ensure your new splash pad is operating optimally. Then it is time to enjoy your water park in your own backyard!

Splash Pad Options

PIP(Pour In Place) rubber is a surface option that has a cushion effect to help protect from falls. PIP rubber surfacing comes in a variety of colors which can be combined to create vibrant patterns. Acrylic lace is the most popular option for splash pads in Nevada. It is a low-cost alternative to PIP rubber and still offers a multitude of colors. Often times 2 or more colors are combined to create a splash park effect. Pavers, flagstone, colored concrete, and exposed aggregate are all possible choices for splash pads.

Above Ground Water Features

With numerous choices available, combinations and colors are endless. From mushrooms and umbrellas to fire hydrants and cannons, there is something to please everybody. We also can custom design water features for specialty projects.

They are available in plastic or stainless steel with high flow and low flow options. Different combinations of spray nozzles can be used within the same splash pad. Even no electrical led rain nozzles are available. They utilize the friction of the water to create their own electrical through a patented turbine.

Splash Pads can operate on automation just like your pool and spa. We can install wall mounted switches, activator posts, wireless remotes or phone app automation to control your backyard splash pad.

Chlorinators are generally the primary sanitizer used for splash pad installations in Vegas, but secondary sanitizers are a popular option to optimize the health of the water. A UV sanitizer neutralizes bacteria and pathogens that could be present in the water while reducing chlorine use. An ozone oxidation system eliminates contaminants like chloramines that causes odors while also reducing chlorine usage.

How much is a Splash Pad from VegasSplashPads?

A splash pad installation cost is a fraction of the price of building a swimming pool. But Just like a swimming pool or spa, there are many options that have varying costs. Basic to mid-level fresh water splash pads usually range between $11,000-$18,000. Recirculating splash pads start at $18,000 and can be scaled as high as your imagination can wander.

Nozzles are an inexpensive way to add excitement to a splash pad. Depending on the size and type of nozzle, they can be as low as $100 each.

Above ground water features offer a dramatic appearance as well as unlimited fun. Most features range from $2,000-$5,000. Commercial grade and custom features can be $5,000-$10,000 and above. Secondary sanitizers are an inexpensive way to ensure healthy and clean water.

Automation is a very popular option for pools, spas, and splash pads. Adding a splash pad to an existing automation system can be as little as $800. If it is a stand alone system without a pool, we have options for a complete automation system to control your backyard splash pad.

As a licensed Nevada Pool and Spa company, we have the knowledge and experience to design and build a splash pad for your backyard landscape.

Splash Pad FAQs

Our fresh water systems run straight off of your water supply and drain into your landscaping. But it is not much more costly than running a backyard sprinkler. Our recirculating systems use a holding tank that recirculates the water after cleaning and sanitizing it. There is very little evaporation since the water is stored underground.

We have a 3 year warranty on all splash pads and equipment. With proper care and maintenance your splash pad will far exceed that time frame.

Yes, but we would recommend doing this at the time of a pool remodel since we would need to add plumbing to the pool.

Of course! VegasSplashPads were designed in mind for people who do NOT want to go to the expense, trouble, or take up their precious yard space with a swimming pool.

An experienced splash pad builder can complete the process in as little as a week depending on size and complexity.

There is no given size or shape a splash pad needs to be, but as a splash pad contractor, we recommend an area at least 10'x10′.

Building a splash pad may require a permit depending on the existing conditions, complexity, and electrical needed.

vsp night

Splash pads - also called water play areas, interactive fountains, wet decks, spray pads, or spray parks are essentially a series of water fountains mounted underground that shoot jets of water upwards.

The jets can spray high and low and vary their splash patterns, and some systems even come with lights that make it look like the water is changing color. (As you can see above, the show of colored water is especially dramatic at night.)

You might be hearing a lot of buzz about these water features because they're becoming more and more popular all the time, with installations at parks, community pools, and NOW YOUR BACKYARD!

The Modern Sprinklers

There are several big benefits to splash pads - here's a look!

Pro: Fun

Splash pads can be super fun for kids, and parents will appreciate that their littles can stay amused for hours all without going outside of your visual range. Many parks also offer other water features - like whimsical showers or soakers shaped like flowers and animals.

Splash pads are really today's equivalent of running through the sprinklers, but are more eco-friendly - and won't waterlog your yard.

You're not wasting water, because splash pads recycle it all, and unlike a swimming pool, the water is stored in an underground tank, which eliminates costly evaporation in the desert.(Read more about the water recycling process below.)

After it sprays up and falls back down, the water filters through the splash deck/rain deck (the ground the jets are built into) and returns to its sealed underground tank.

Minimized risk of drowning

When most people ask if splash pads are safe, they're thinking about drowning. This water feature's simplicity - and safety - is what makes splash pads so popular.

Since there's no standing water (aka "zero depth") the drowning risk is negligible - so there's typically no need for a lifeguard, pool fences or door alarms. And after the water is turned off, it's just a flat play area.

Because the tops of the splash jets are level with the raindeck - usually at or slightly above ground level - they're not a tripping hazard (unlike sprinkler heads). And without any parts to get in the way, when the splash pad's not spraying water, this low-profile area can double as a deck, a patio, and our favorite, a sport court!

These water play areas are a lot more affordable than putting in a pool. In addition to avoiding the cost & hassle of a pool installation, splash pads are far less maintenance.
